CWO Columbus Days Parade Float
CWO Columbus Days Parade Float THIS COMING SUNDAY!!
REMINDER: The Columbus Days Parade takes place this Sunday (8/16) starting at 3:00 p.m. We would like to have wrestlers of all ages, our coaches and our volunteers walk and/or ride with us during the parade. Former CWO wrestlers who are now in high school are also invited to ride along with us, the younger kids would love it!
Let’s do our best to show our pride in the Columbus Wrestling Organization (CWO) and have a large crowd for the parade!!
As far as logistics, the parade entries will be lining up in the NPPD parking lot at 1414 15th St. We would like to have everyone there by 2:45 p.m. due to the parade starting at 3 p.m. The “Columbus Wrestling Organization” parade float entry is tentatively assigned #72. Our float will consist of a pickup pulling a decorated hayrack.
If you plan on coming or plan on having your child participate, please have them wear their CWO t-shirts during the parade. We will plan on having bottled water on the trailer for the kids just in case we have an extremely hot day. If any parents would like to walk along and help pass out candy to the parade watchers, please feel free to join us.
As far as dropping off your wrestler for the parade, the area around NPPD’s parking lot can get very congested with parade traffic. The parade committee has designated the very north/northeast part of NPPD’s parking as lot the “kid drop off area”. Please use extra caution if your wrestler has to cross the street to get into the parking lot.
At the conclusion of the parade route, we will plan on continuing back to the NPPD parking lot where parents can pick up their kids in the southwest corner of NPPD’s parking lot. This should be an easy place for everyone to meet and get kids picked up safely. If you plan on picking up your child along the parade route, please make sure you communicate that to the coaches when you drop them off, otherwise we will assume that all kids will be picked up in the NPPD parking lot.
For our younger kids this year we will have a small bag of candy for them to take home as they miss out on that part of the parade. Riding in a parade is a lot of fun and rewarding in itself but I know kids like candy.
Additional details regarding the parade float has been emailed out to all CWO parents. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me on my cell at 402-910-8749. Please note that I will have my cell phone with me before, during & after the parade in case of an emergency. -Coach Brian Brownlow
